Bike Fit Technology has utility for marketing, data collection, documentation and bike-sizing. It should mirror -- not lead -- the work of an experienced technician in the process of bike fitting.
"Technology alone is a poor substitute for experience"
(Richard Sachs)
I contribute to product development in the fit-industry in exchange for samples, prototypes and/or finshed items. What remains is used to test findings, measure objectives, and provide support (shims, orthotics, screws) when fitting.TECHNICIAN
There is no substitute for critical thinking, experience, humility, and committment to establish a positive outcome for each client — guaranteed. Bike-fit technology is marketed to shops as a simple solution to make “professionals” out of anyone interested in bike fitting. If this worked, >75% of my business would not be re-fitting clients who were unhappy with the results from other-fitters. Technology is great, but only incorrect proportion and application — to increase confidence when making decisions, provides a client-reference for the process and records data for future reference The last thing a person thinks about before undergoing surgery is the make/model of the doctor’s scalpel. I’d rather know how many surgeries he/she has preformed successfully.
